manatee refuge

We visited a manatee refuge in February and it was amazing! We went to Blue Spring State Park, in Orange City, Florida. According to Save the Manatee Club, because manatees are very sensitive to cold water, they are migratory. Blue Spring is a constant 72 degrees Fahrenheit, so the manatees like to spend their winter there. The refuge is also protected from boats and human interaction, so it sounds like a great place to be a manatee! You should be able to see lots of manatees in the amazingly clear water there between November and April.

Here are some photos from our visit. In addition to all the cute manatees, we also saw a few types of birds (including a great blue heron), turtles, and an alligator!
