It’s time for an oldie but goodie. I took this photo when I was in Amsterdam in 2008.
I attended a conference in Amsterdam a couple of years ago, and we made a little vacation of it. I really enjoyed the Anne Frank Museum, the Van Gogh Museum, a canal cruise, and just wandering around the city. The bicycle infrastructure in Amsterdam is impressive, and the architecture is very distinct and lovely.
One night after the conference, we stumbled upon Kartika, a cozy Indonesian restaurant. We had a lovely dinner there, and I really liked their vegetarian sampler, which is one of their specials. This meal came with an array of interesting and delicious foods, and was great for sharing with a large group (we had a non-veg sampler at the table too).
We also got some “real Dutch food” for dinner one night at a restaurant near the Leidseplein. I had a vegetarian hotchpotch, which was basically mashed potatoes with vegetables mixed in.
We had lunch at The Pancake Bakery after visiting the Anne Frank Museum. I love pancakes, and really appreciated that there were both sweet and savory pancakes here. Yum!
On our last night in Amsterdam, Jeff and I went to an all-vegetarian restaurant called Golden Temple. I had a Middle Eastern Platter and Jeff had an Indian Platter (of course we shared though!). Both were delicious, and there are lots of other things on the menu that are probably amazing too!
